If you liked the idea of the 2025 Subaru Solterra but wished it went a little farther and felt a little stronger, the 2026 model is worth a closer look. Subaru keeps the same basic recipe: a compact, all-electric SUV with standard all-wheel drive. However, the 2026 Solterra introduces key improvements that drivers in Lancaster, PA, and the surrounding area will notice while daily driving. Learn more from Lancaster County Motors Subaru.

Big Changes

The biggest change is range. The 2025 Solterra was often criticized for its limited driving distance. For 2026, Subaru increases the range by about 25 percent, with estimates now ranging from 278 to 288 miles per charge, depending on the trim. The battery capacity climbs slightly, and a new preconditioning system helps the pack charge more efficiently, especially in colder Pennsylvania weather around East Petersburg and Elizabethtown.

Power is also up. The standard dual-motor setup in the 2026 Solterra now produces 233 horsepower, up from 215 horsepower in the 2025 model. There is also a new XT trim that delivers 338 horsepower and significantly quicker acceleration, providing stronger passing power on Route 30 or I-76 without compromising the confident feel you expect from Subaru's all-wheel drive.

Charging tech takes a big step forward as well. The 2025 Solterra utilized the older CCS connector and achieved a maximum DC fast charging rate of 100 kilowatts. For 2026, Subaru switches to the NACS port and raises maximum DC fast-charge speed to 150 kilowatts, opening the door to more compatible fast chargers and shorter stops on trips from Lancaster to Lebanon, PA, and beyond.
